Hari ini kita ke New York Hospital Queens ... they gave us a free tour so we know where to go when it's time to deliver the baby. We were 5 minutes late and everything went so confusing because the tour left already ... Up to 3rd Floor, back again to 2nd Floor ... my oh my ... I was quite desperate. Luckily we found them, .. and the lady, Marietta Tulsan, who guided the tour was very nice. She actually gave us another tour for the first 15 minutes that we missed. She thought I was Filipino .. yeah, right .. always the same guess.
I actually write this down, so I can recall it next time I need to refresh my memory. First, I have to go on the Third Floor, .. Examination Room, where the doctor will see how I'm doing, check the baby with the scanner and etc etc. If the doctor thinks it's the right time, then I will be hauled to the Labor Delivery Room (LDR).
I am expected to have a bag full of supplies which includes nursery bra, night gown, etc etc. I can't bring anything that needs to be plugged on. I'll check on WHAT TO PACK TO HOSPITAL for sure.
The LDR is the place where I'm gonna deliver the baby. It was not intimidating at all and actually look quite like a hotel room, even with the machine that can give me soft warm blanket which I can choose the temperature!!! Sweeeettt ....
The best part is that I can have two people to accompany me in that room. I can't expect my hubby to hold my hand ... I'd rather have MOM next to me. If he's strong enough to see his wife struggling ... then he's more than welcome to join me. Men .. so weak sometimes. LOL.
Afterwards, we went on to see the Baby's Room. I saw one little baby by the glass window. It was so cute, and I think of him as Dylan in that crib wrapped so tightly by a blanket. Lucuneeeeee ..... hehe .. jadi ketawa-ketiwi sendiri.
The baby, the mother and the father will be given a bracelet each to indicate relationships, plus the baby will be given an anklet that functions as an alarm that will goes off if it passes the elevator. So no baby kidnapping worry. Oh and the baby and the mother will be fingerprinted right after the delivery to match the identity.
Then, we went back to the 2nd Floor, that's the bedroom for after delivery. Everything seems nice and they actually have half of the rooms there as private rooms. I just hope I can get one ... First time first serve basis anyway, so one can only hope ... The father can come in as early as 5 AM and go home at 1 or 2 AM, but he can't stay in. The grandparents and siblings can came in from 10 AM to 8 PM, while other guests from 12 PM to 6 or 8 PM, I don't remember exactly.
In the bedroom, there will be a crib for the baby if the mother wants her baby to stay with her. I can call the nurse if I want to put the baby back to the Baby's Room along with his friends. And there will be a nurse that will teach me how to nurse the baby. I'll be staying on the hospital for two days after the delivery.
Everything sounds good.
Ok, That's a wrap.
